Porn Stars Receive Shoutouts on NBC's 'The Carmichael Show'

LOS ANGELES—Several adult stars received unexpected plugs on primetime network television Sunday night, thanks to NBC’s “The Carmichael Show” taking on the subject of porn addiction.

Now nearing the end of its second season, “The Carmichael Show” sitcom follows a fictional version of comedian Jerrod Carmichael’s outspoken family in Charlotte, N.C.

In Episode 12 of Season 2 last night, the family returns from going to church, where their reverend shockingly admitted to having a porn addiction. Still stunned by the revelation, Jerrod’s mom Cynthia tells her family she may have to find another church as the comic relief ensues.

As they discuss the public’s misconceptions about porn, one by one other family members——her husband Joe, her sons Jerrod and Bobby and later Jerrod’s girlfriend Maxine—also admit they watch porn, too.

“I’m not any sexual deviant,” Joe confesses. “I don’t watch anything too hardcore. I’m mostly into…lesbian stuff.”

“I know this is a weird thing to admit in front of your whole family but I watch porn too, ma,” Jerrod says.

Bobby reasons, “I don’t really like lesbian porn, there’s just too many toys. I don’t think lesbians should be able to use toys. Look you made a choice, stick with it!”

While Cynthia seems horrified, Maxine attempts to calm her concerns. “I don’t think anyone here is actually addicted to porn,” Maxine says. “I think watching it in moderation is a healthy thing for people to explore their own sexuality.”

She later adds, “Porn has such a stigma attached to it because people in our country are so uptight about sex. We should be able to talk about it.”

When Maxine and Jerrod continue to talk about his porn-viewing habits privately, she asks him if he has a favorite porn star.

“Ariana Marie—actually it’s a tie between her and Alexis Texas. They’re both from Texas. Actually, Ariana is from Clearwater, Florida; she grew up in Texas though. She’s like [5-foot-4], dark hair, green eyes. You know the type,” Jerrod says.

“What, do you have this girl’s rookie card or something?” Maxine replies.

Jerrod continues, “Also, I really like Dani Daniels. She’s really funny on Instagram.” He adds an “honorary mention” for Cassidy Banks.

Jerrod makes a PornHub reference before Maxine also reveals she’s into porn.

“I search for more amateur stuff, real-life couples. I think an honest human connection is a real turn-on,” she says to Jerrod’s surprise.

Jerrod later adds August Ames to his list of favorite porn stars.

“I’m sorry I left her off the list earlier,” he jokes.

When Jerrod and Maxine argue over why they watch, Maxine says Jerrod is wrong about his statement that, “women watch porn because they’re not satisfied.”

“That is not true. It is such a fallacy that women’s sexual appetites are different than men’s,” she says.

As the show winds down she promises not to watch porn anymore when he’s home as long he unfollows Dani Daniels on Instagram.
